Ideal Motor Car Company, organized in June 1911 by Harry C. Stutz with his friend, Henry F. Campbell, began building Stutz cars in Indianapolis in 1911.

Stutz fire engines were built by the Stutz Fire Engine Co. of Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1919 to 1928, and the New Stutz Fire Engine Co. of Hartford City, Indiana, from 1930 to 1941.  See one of these Fire Engines on YouTube by the Hall of Flame Fire Museum HERE

1911: The First Indy 500

In 1911, the company introduced its first car, which gained fame as the “Car That Made Good in a Day” after an impressive performance at the Indianapolis 500.
