Lloyd Cars Ltd. was a German automobile manufacturer known for producing compact cars and microcars from 1908 until the late 1950s. Established by Carl F.W. Borgward in Bremen, Germany, Lloyd initially focused on manufacturing motorcycles before expanding into the production of small cars. Lloyd cars were designed to be affordable and economical, catering to the needs of post-war Europe’s burgeoning middle class. The company’s lineup included compact models like the Lloyd LP 300, LP 400, and LP 600, which were popular for their practicality and fuel efficiency. Despite their small size, Lloyd cars were known for their sturdy construction and reliability, making them a common sight on European roads during the mid-20th century. While Lloyd ceased production in the late 1950s, its legacy endures as a testament to German automotive ingenuity and innovation in the compact car segment.
