International Harvester Company, commonly known as IH or simply International, was a major American manufacturer of agricultural equipment, trucks, and construction machinery. Founded in 1902 through the merger of several smaller companies, International Harvester quickly became one of the largest and most influential companies in its field. The company’s farm equipment division produced a wide range of products, including tractors, combines, and harvesters, helping to revolutionize agricultural practices worldwide. In addition to its agricultural machinery, International Harvester was also known for its trucks, which became popular for their durability and versatility. Notable models like the International Scout, introduced in 1961, gained a dedicated following for their off-road capability and ruggedness. Despite its early success, International Harvester faced financial challenges in the 1970s and 1980s, leading to a series of restructuring efforts and ultimately the sale of its divisions. Today, while International Harvester no longer exists as a standalone company, its legacy lives on through its iconic products, which continue to be cherished by collectors and enthusiasts around the world.
