Nash Motors Company was founded in 1916 when Charles Nash bought Rambler. An American automobile manufacturer based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Nash-Kelvinator Corporation was the result of a merger in 1937 between Nash Motors 1937 to 1954 and Kelvinator Appliance Company.

In 1954, Nash-Kelvinator acquired Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan, in what was called a mutually beneficial merger which formed the American Motors Corporation. Kelvinator continued as a wholly owned division within the new company.

1916 – 1954

Nash Motors Company, later known as Nash-Kelvinator Corporation, was an American automobile manufacturer that operated from 1916 to 1954. Founded by Charles W. Nash, the company quickly gained recognition for its innovative engineering and forward-thinking designs. Nash cars were known for their distinctive styling, advanced features, and emphasis on comfort and practicality. The brand introduced several groundbreaking innovations, including the Weather Eye heating and ventilation system and the Nash Rambler, one of the first successful compact cars in the United States. Nash’s merger with Kelvinator Corporation in 1937 created Nash-Kelvinator, which further solidified its reputation for quality and innovation. Despite the company’s eventual acquisition by American Motors Corporation in 1954, Nash cars remain revered by collectors and enthusiasts for their unique styling, advanced technology, and contributions to automotive history.
